I began owning/training purebred dogs in 1971; breed Doberman Pinschers. I began in Obedience and Breed handling, working for Professional handler at his kennel and on the road.
Other breeds I have owned and trained: Am Staffs, Gordon Setters, Yorkshire Terriers, Silky Terrier, English Setters and most recently Border Terriers.
I have owned, trained, bred and shown Gordon Setters since 1972. I bred 3 litters; 6 Champions and multiple CD’s. Once Rally Obedience became a dog sport I trained in that as well. My last 2 Gordon Setters I trained and showed though their Breed Championships, CDX, RAE. Both Gordons are presently retired at 15 and 10 yrs of age. My male Gordon at age of 8 finished his Rally Master title; first in ADTC, and at age 8/9 I trained him thru his Senior Hunt title!!
My Border Terriers are presently training in Standard obedience and Rally Obedience; 2 year old Boyd is already RA and CD. Bryn is 1 year and a CGC and along came the VIRUS! They will eventually ‘go to ground’ and hunt RATS!
I have been member of ADTC for approximately 23 years; I am a 40 year member of Gordon Setter Club of America and 2 year member of Border Terrier Club of America. I have served as ADTC President, VP, Member at Large, club contact person and coordinator for Show n Goes; I am presently serving as VP, again. I have taught Pre-Novice Obedience class + Breed handling classes for MANY years while in Hampstead location. Since move to Wilmington, have assisted in all levels of Rally Obedience and Competition Obedience class.
