Class Types/Levels

ADTC offers Five Types of Classes:

Traditional Obedience, Agility, Therapy Dog, Rally Obedience & Conformation.

Tradtional Obedience:

Puppy Obedience: (under one year….. can begin classes, at 12 weeks of age in our ‘Young” Puppy Class, as long as pups have already had two sets of vaccinations in the series ): Controlled walking, 1 minute sit stay and down stay, sit for examination by handler’s side, and come when called.

We have two distinct Puppy Classes; one for our Younger Puppies, ages 12 weeks to 6 months on the first night of class, and one for our Older Puppies: ages 6 months to 12 months on the first night of class.  We feel by using this method, grouping the pups by age rather than size, all puppies in either Puppy Class will be on an equal playing field in their learning ability!

Beginner Obedience: (Puppies moving up from Puppy Obedience and dogs over a year that have not had prior formal training): Heel with automatic sit when handler stops, 1 minute sit, 3 minute down stay, sit for examination with handler 6 feet in front, and come when called with sit in front.

Pre-Novice Obedience: (Dogs moving up from Beginner. This class also may incorporate the AKC Good Citizenship test): Heel with automatic sit, Figure Eight, 1 minute sit and 3 minute down stay, stand for examination, and come when called with front and finish.

Competition Obedience: Novice and Open level Competition training and for those just wanting a dog that is stable off lead.
